Scratch cupcakes coming to Greene County

The RSVP volunteer program in Greene County is hosting a Scratch Cupcakery fundraiser June 8-26.

Volunteers will sell 6-packs of Iowa-made Scratch Cupcakery cupcakes. Each 6-pack includes an assortment of Scratch Cupcakery’s favorite flavors and sells for $15-$20.  Cupcakes will be delivered frozen on July 16. They can be stored frozen for several weeks without losing moistness or quality.

The RSVP volunteer program earns 40 percent of total sales. Funds raised will go toward RSVP volunteer programs in Greene County.

RSVP volunteer program is a non-profit funded through Senior Corps for the National and Community Service of Iowa. Sheilah Pound is the coordinator for the Greene County RSVP volunteer program.

Signature RSVP programs include GAP (Grocery Assistance-shopping Program), which provides volunteers to shop for elderly and disabled residents who are unable to get groceries from store to home; and the In-Home Visitation Program that connects volunteers with socially-isolated older adults and/or disabled adults to bring them friendship and a connection to the community.

RSVP volunteers are also placed within Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and partner with Elderbridge Agency in Carroll for adult respite care. RSVP volunteers are in Greene County Elementary School to listen to young readers, and volunteers may also be placed with the community-based mentoring program offered by New Opportunities.
